Calle de Alcalá is Madrid's longest street, at over 10 km. It begins near the Puerta del Sol and passes through landmarks such as the Plaza de Cibeles, the Puerta de Alcalá and the Retiro Park, before continuing on to the capital's modern districts.

A brief history and anecdotes
Originally, this road led to the neighbouring town of Alcalá de Henares, hence its name. Anecdote: the famous Metropolis building, which marks the corner with the Gran Vía, is one of Madrid's most photographed buildings, with its golden dome.
