A masterpiece of Gothic art, Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral rises majestically from the heart of the Ile de la Cité. For over 850 years, it has embodied the faith, history and identity of the capital. Despite the tragic fire in 2019, it remains an emblem deeply rooted in the hearts of Parisians.

A brief history and anecdotes
Construction of the cathedral began in 1163 and took almost two centuries. Victor Hugo immortalised it in Notre-Dame de Paris in 1831, reviving interest in the monument. The fire on 15 April 2019 destroyed the spire and ravaged the roof, provoking worldwide emotion. It is due to reopen in December 2024.
