A showcase dedicated to Claude Monet and the Impressionists
Located in the 16ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, the Musée Marmottan Monet boasts the world's largest collection of works by Claude Monet, including the famous painting Impression, rising sunwho gave his name to the Impressionist movement.

It's a must-see for lovers of Impressionism. It features paintings, drawings and sketches by Monet, as well as works by other great artists such as Renoir, Degas, Morisot and Sisley, and a major collection of medieval illuminations.
A brief history and anecdotes
Housed in a former hunting lodge, the museum was opened in 1934 thanks to a bequest from Paul Marmottan. The collections have grown over the years, thanks in particular to a gift from Michel Monet, the artist's son, in 1966. Today, it is a benchmark museum for Impressionism.
