An artistic jewel in the heart of the Tuileries Gardens

Located at the western end of the Tuileries Gardens, the Musée de l'Orangerie is famous for housing the sumptuous   Water lilies by Claude Monet. It also houses a rich collection of modern art, with works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso and many others.

  

Why visit?

It's a unique immersive experience to contemplate the gigantic panels of the   Water liliesdesigned by Monet as an invitation to meditation. The museum also houses the Walter-Guillaume collection, a veritable treasure trove of 19th and 20th century painting.

  

A brief history and anecdotes

The building was originally constructed in 1852 to house the orange trees in the garden. It was transformed into a museum after the First World War and chosen by Monet himself to house his masterpiece. Since 2006, it has been renovated to offer visitors a brighter, more harmonious tour.
