Located in the 6ᵉ arrondissement, the Luxembourg Gardens are one of the capital's most beautiful and popular gardens. With its flowerbeds, shady paths and statues, it offers an idyllic break from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

It's an ideal place to relax, play sport or admire works of art in the open air. Families will particularly enjoy the play area and the little sailboats that can be pushed around the central basin, while history buffs can discover the Palais du Luxembourg.

  

A brief history and anecdotes

Created at the beginning of the XVIIᵉ century at the request of Marie de Médicis, the garden was inspired by the Italian gardens of her childhood. Today it belongs to the Senate, whose palace stands at its centre. It has also been a mecca for Parisians for generations.
