Located around twenty kilometres from Paris, the Château de Versailles is one of the most famous monuments in the world. The former residence of the kings of France, it embodies the grandeur, luxury and elegance of the XVIIᵉ century.

A brief history and anecdotes

Transformed by Louis XIV from one of his father's hunting lodges, the château became the centre of royal power until the French Revolution. It has hosted major ceremonies and historic negotiations, including the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.
