A vast natural area to the east of Paris

With its 995 hectares, the Bois de Vincennes is the largest green space in the capital. A veritable green lung, it offers lakes, forests, gardens and sports facilities, as well as a rich historical heritage.

  

Why visit?

It's an ideal place for outdoor activities, family picnics, romantic strolls or discovering themed gardens. It also boasts cultural and sports facilities that are unique in Paris.

  

A brief history and anecdotes

Formerly a royal hunting reserve, the wood was redeveloped in the XIXᵉ century by Napoleon III and the engineer Adolphe Alphand. It is still home to the Château de Vincennes, the former residence of the kings of France, as well as remnants of world exhibitions.
