VISIT THE BOIS DE BOULOGNE
A huge green lung to the west of Paris
Covering almost 850 hectares, the Bois de Boulogne is one of the capital's largest green spaces. A true haven of nature, it offers lakes, gardens, paths and leisure facilities for all ages.
Why visit?
It's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can go cycling, boating, picnicking, visit themed gardens or attend cultural events.
A brief history and anecdotes
Developed under Napoleon III in the XIXᵉ century by the engineer Adolphe Alphand, the Bois de Boulogne was inspired by London parks. Once a royal hunting reserve, it is now a popular place for leisure and relaxation.
